Netsupport School does most of the same things you mention, but in
Windows. And yes, the kids do think it's evil. Alas, it's some $50 per
client.

If you wanted to be more evil, and more thrifty, there is BackOrifice
2000 (bo2k), which does most of the aforementioned things, but, being
written by a collective of hackers, has generally been thrown into the
virus/malware category, and is usually picked up by virus checkers as
such.
