Thanks to all the people who contributed with the Powerpoint and the IWB
ideas. I do have Activestudio software on my computer and have used that in
a demo lesson. But the challenge for me was to create something that was
accessible and easy for teachers in the school who didn't have access to or
who are yet use the Active studio software.
I settled on PPT with shapes over the image being revealed through custom
animation and found a very simple way to duplicate it for each slide. We did
it this morning with the Grade 2/3's and it worked a treat.
We are mounting the new Promethean board lower than usual as it's a room for
P-4 students .It's a very valid point because a couple of the boards already
in the school are high and I do have difficulty reaching the top.
BTW we must live in different worlds Russell. I have no problem having my
home phone number on my email signature and my students and teachers know
it. Perhaps it's because I live in a small community.
Cheers

Hi Anne,
If your school is going to get a SMART board then you could download a copy
of the SMARTBoard software from:
http://www.smarttech.com/
http://www.smarttech.com/support/software/index.asp
It will still work without the SMART board and that way when you get the
board you will not have to recreate the lesson.
If you not getting a SMART board then you may still be able to get a copy of
the software for the type of board you are getting from the web.
Good luck and have fun with the board when it comes.
just make sure that if it's going to be mounted on a wall somewhere that you
are able to reach the top right corner of the board otherwise you will have
difficulty closing programs.
(I had to lower my board after it was installed because of this)
PS do you realy want the who world to know your home phone number?!?
Would you give it to your students?
Remember that google finds many things on the web and that these messages
are archived online at http://www.edulists.com.au/pipermail/yr7-10it/
Regards,
Rupert.

Hi All
I'm hoping a clever person out there can help me.
I want to create a way to carefully reveal an image in MS PowerPoint. In
the same way that you can reveal an image on an Interactive Whiteboard.
For this unit I am working in a classroom that doesn't yet have it's IWB
(it's coming next week) but we want to get started.
My plan is to have powerful images of close ups of minibeasts (one image
per slide) and I want to reveal each image little by little so that the
kids can talk and wonder about them before seeing them in their
totality.
Is the best way to have shapes layered over the top of the images and
animate them to exit? Or is there a better way?
Thanks Anne
