[Yr7-10it] 2005 Programming Excellence Awards

Hi
I'm a strong supporter of the VITTA competition and don't want to give the
impression that I'm not. However, this discussion highlights one limitation
of the competition.

Only top level programmers (and I think only one per school) is actually
competing on a state wide basis. Otherwise students are competing within
their school. If you know you are not the top student in your school,
there's little incentive to enter.

We have purposefully structured the national game programming competition
http://www.acmi.net.au/screenit.htm so that multiple students from multiple
year levels get a chance to compete externally. We are doing primary school
this year but hope to expand to junior secondary next year.
