I bet you're the kind of person who must still write "internet" with a
capital "I" and insist on typing "www." in front of URLs. Grrr.

The man behind GIF - *Steve Wilhite* - is a programmer, not a lexicologist.
As Diana said, the "G" in "GIF" stands for "Graphic". It's a hard "G".
Steve W probably also says "arks" instead of "ask." - and we know what sort
of people THEY are.
Steve also must have described himself as a "projrammer.".

I'll meet you in the alley out the back of the internet and we'll sort this
out.
