[Yr11 Information Technology] Any Schools out there with No Computer Labs??????????

Hi Y11 teachers
Ironically at our school given a lower than expected take up rate for 1:1 or BYOD, there is talk about getting more labs rather than less, though I am cautiously advising against it.
I guess in some ways it’s up to what parents are prepared to pay in order to access IT materials.

Hi Paul,
We are currently undertaking an audit around this – we are rolling out a 1:1 Laptop program next year. We will keep labs for Senior classes and for classes that require adobe software.
Good luck with the process – it would be great to hear how you get on.

HI,
Sorry for the off topic post, and for any cross posts.
My school is looking at getting rid of our computer labs entirely in favour of a school wide student laptop program.
I was wondering if anyone else has any experience in this, especially in terms of software compatibility issues and authentication of student SAC tasks.
What should we be looking out for?
and finally if anyone has any compelling arguments for not having any computer labs at all in a school, other than to save the school operating expenses money. Eg. Is there anything "Beyond the Balance Sheet" to be gained by getting rid of all of the labs?
Thanks
