I sat on a workshop with John Pearce and saw somebody showcase some really cool Mathematics stuff with Scratch. You could do the same with Python too. There are other more elegant ones out there. Tony Foster assembled a good collection using Gamemaker a decade ago. It brought back a lot of memories with the maths games we played on computers with Logo in the 1990’s. Here is a prime number generator written by a student using scratch .. brute force but it works. https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/978284/ <https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/978284/>
As Gary Bass will support, we also have Wolfram with places still available for next week’s workshop at JMSS. Register Now <http://vic.us13.list-manage.com/track/click?u=5de104443164e1e3e01874e9b&id=ce7f53a909&e=41cba0a4b6> and DigiCON.
Regards Roland
PS: I will admit I was a bit of a wag last year, suggesting that students could be challenged with coding a big-coin mining tool then leaving it running for the teacher as a solid coding test and assessment reward.

Mostly we’re highlighting the use of algorithms we already use in our mathematical processes. To find out more, come to my session at Digicon next week! J
