Thanks for the advice so far, everyone,
I've had a super-quick look at Grok with a few teacher account and I'm not sure it represents value for money. It looks quite similar to Codecademy which is free. Plus the students need to be able to create a programable GUI as well in Year 11.

Am I missing something?

Cheers,
Michael Poke

I agree - Grok is great. Have used the Python courses for unit 2 and even used Grok for my year 7 Digital Technology class this semester. They used the Blockly module.

Thumbs up from me for Grok Learning. I have used the Grok Learning Challenge with all my year 11 (and some year 10) students for the past few years. They helped to set up my my pre-service teachers with free accounts to get them up to speed with coding. My personal fav amongst their tutorials was the Python and the BBC:Microbit.

Hi all,

New to this list. Wondering what software people are using to teach programming in Unit 2. Are you still using VB.net<http://VB.net>? I have Apple Macs but have Windows running with bootcamp as well. What language are people doing? Ideally I’d like to teach Python (because it’s easy) but in a simple drag and drop UI environment like VB.

My students are learning Python via codecademy.com<http://codecademy.com/> for now until I work out what I’m doing, but time is running out.

Any advice would be great.

PS. Coding is NOT my forte.

Cheers,

Michael
