Well, Barney Stinson is quite the manly man … in a similar vein for “quality” TV shows, many of the restaurant renovation shows will repaint a building just because it’s pink or blue, as both colours are known to suppress appetite and discourage people from eating. Maybe that’s why the blue team keeps losing in cooking shows … they never stood a chance.

Nice work, Darren.

A century or two back the colour pink used to be associated with boys, and blue with girls.
Pink was thought to be too strong a colour for weak females.
The 180-degree spin in meaning shows how culture is so important in the interpretation of symbols.

Also, the colours of wedding dresses in different cultures means very different things.
