[Yr11 Information Technology] OT - Digital Technologies and STEAM

We have a semester of Technology over Year 7 and 8. Which means I get one semester of Compulsory Year 8 ICT which I will teach as Digital Technologies next year. As for ICT it is the discretion of other KLAs as what they want to integrate into their KLA. I know Maths has Coding component. One semester means I get to see the Y8s for 2x72 min periods over 10 days. May go to 3 next year I am hoping

At year 9 and 10 ICT is elective. I will turn them into Digital Technologies at year 9 and year 10. This will create a pathway into VCE Computing and VET Interactive Digital Media.

Must be a local disease Chay! Across the road from you, we have removed IT as a subject at Yrs 7 & 8 entirely.
It is supposed to be ‘integrated’, not sure how that will go.

Hi all

I have a couple of off topic questions that I would be extremely grateful if anyone is able to help me out on:

1. Does anyone have any examples of term/semester/yearly plans on teaching the new Digital Technologies curriculum as its own subject in Year 7 and 8. Also, if anyone can give me an idea on how many lessons a week and for how long your school will be allocating to the subject that would also be helpful. We are in the process of trying to allocate this into our current timetables for year 7 and 8 and I need to show some justification on how much I am asking for.

2. Are there any schools out there that are integrating and have introduced STEAM into the curriculum that would be willing to have a couple of visitors from my school to get some ideas and resources?
