[Yr11 Information Technology] Excursion ideas

I really like the Telstra Museum - located at the Telephone exchange in Hawthorn (a few doors down from Swinburne University). The cost is in the form of a donation - so a gold coin from each student is all that is required and students get to se the development of communication - from morse code, phones (old fashioned ones, dial up, payphone, and mobile phone bricks), faxes and  cables. As the musuem is housed in a working telephone exchange, they get to see how a telephone exchange used to work, to a more updated version - where they are shown a demonstration.  The museum is run by volunteers and is open to the public on a Wednesdays (by appointment) - but if you need to schedule another time - it can be negotiated. I have been there several times and each time I go there, I find something new that I didn’t pick on in earlier visits.
