[Yr11 Information Technology] 1:1 Ipads and Netbooks

Hi Roland,

We’re using Google Enterprise, including Google Classroom.
However as it is locked down at various levels I’ve needed to create websites and resources outside of the school domain.

As an example, various IT websites are blocked, YouTube is blocked, together with the usual suite of media sites. This is more to do with bandwidth and download limits and of course legal and firewall protection than anything else.

Regards,
Zach Alexakos

Yes, the LMS in Compass is rather primitive, kind of why I am sticking with Edmodo, others with Moodle. Anybody using Schoology or GoogleClassroom? I’m just curious.

Hi Mandy
Hope you are enjoying your new school.
We have moved from a BYOD iPAD program to a Windows 8 touch tablet as we found the network functionality and curriculum delivery with the IPAD frustrating. We use Compass as our school platform and iPADs only allow the upload of image and video files to Compass. We are two years in on the new device program and very happy with it. The tablets take the eduSTAR image and we are finding an ever growing number of Microsoft apps being developed as well.
Many of our 9 to 12s have the NSSCF netbooks but these are slowly disappearing and students opting for the touch devices.
Cheers

Hi All,

I am just after some opinions from people. Our school (secondary, 1000 + students) currently have a 1:1 netbook program for 7-12 students. We are considering moving to Ipads for BYOD from next year. This would mean that we have a combination of IPads and Netbooks. Can I ask others that may have the same set up, how well it runs from a network set up point of view?

Thanks

Mandy Holmes
