[Yr11 Information Technology] HELP! Year 11 and 12 IT combined class

I find it really challenging to accept that this happens, (regardless of the subject area).  They are two separate courses and should be treated as such.  Schools should not compromise the students nor the teacher. I think it undermines our profession by putting teachers into a position that they feel personally responsible for the continuation of the subject.   Within my department we have all agreed that we will not accept this as our past experience means an overworked teacher and students (esp. yr 11) not getting the attention they deserve.  We accept that the subject may not run.

I know the argument is often put to the teacher that they will have less marking but course development and delivery is the same for 1 as it is for 50.

Im also in the same position and am thinking that I will rearrange the outcomes to suit the year 12 timeline. It is not the best situation for me as you tend to focus on Year 12 students. I would also like to see what others do in this situation

Unfortunately for 2015 it looks like the numbers have decreased and I have been given a combined Year 11 and 12 IT class (Year 12 IT Apps). I know that some of the Area of Studies for both courses kind of overlap but not completely and not at the same times.
