[Yr11 Information Technology] U2O1- suggestions for next task with slow internet?

Our school joined the Department's internet portal (terminology?) at the start of this year. I am finding it is too slow for students to do research. This Outcome 1 requires students to "select appropriate sources of data and identify relevant data". Last year I gave them a list of websites that contained a range of datasets and asked them to select their data. Our web access is so slow I don't think I can do that this year.

Has slow web access been an issue for any of you in government schools?

If so, how are you addressing this? Are you providing the students with the datasets?
(I really don't want to do this, but the situation here is intolerable!!)
