Many Eyes was one of the best tools we used this year for Data
Visualisation.
Students also liked <http://howbigreally.com/> http://howbigreally.com/ - I
see they have added a section called "How Many Really?" which is new in the
last few months.
Saw a very quick demo of Google Fusion Tables last week -

http://www.google.com/fusiontables/Home/ This looks really good too - the
key to all these tools is finding data sets which are of interest to the
students.

It led me to another free viz tool by IBM -

and gapminder.org, which can show animated trends over time.
