Swinburne University is launching the Graduate Certificate in Educational Technologies commencing 2012 and together with Keynote speaker, Tony Brandenburg, President, Australian Council for Computers in Education (ACCE) will address the importance of ICT professional development for teachers in schools, given the release of the National Standards for Teachers and the ICT general capabilities in the Australian Curriculum.

About the Graduate Certificate in Educational Technologies

The significant and increasing use of educational technologies in the classroom has brought new demands and challenges for teachers in Primary and Secondary schools. The Graduate Certificate in Educational Technologies aims to provide understanding, confidence and tools for Primary and Secondary teachers to enable them to incorporate educational technologies into a variety of teaching contexts, combining a formal education with reflective and research components. Hands-on experience will allow teachers to develop a high degree of competence in the use of tools that enhance teacher capabilities and learning outcomes and promote student engagement.

The program aims to prepare teachers to meet the growing demands of educational technologies, which are available to teachers and commonly used by students and the pedagogy around their use.
