*"Hi Mark and colleagues

Typically at units * *1 and 2 there is a lot more flexibility regarding
course design than at Units 3 and 4. Similarly, what is required at units 3
and 4 tends to set the 'tone' for some aspects of units 1 and 2. This is the
situation with programmingunit 2, schools are free to use any of the
languages in the approved list (which will be published in the June
Bulletin). If schools offer Software development it is more likely that they
will choose a language from the approved list for use in Unit 2 to prepare
their students. However, if only IT apps is offered (or no units 3 and 4),
they may want to use a language
* languages. At that better suits the needs of the students, in particular
scripting languages. *
Teachers might like to contribute ideas to this list about what languages
they use at unit 2 and the progress they make with their students. Also,
area of study 1, data analysis and visualisation in the 2010 study design
allows the use of a programming language to create data visualisations -
this might influence the type of language used throughout the unit.

Regards* *
Paula"*

The list of approved languages is here

Flash is not mentioned, but it doesn't necessarily mean it's forbidden for
units 1&2.

Paula might need to arbitrate on this.

Regards
Mark
