[Yr11 Information Technology] Developing SAC's

I love it, and it's very relevant as half the kids have a Dream Team.
However, I am also developing a SAC (On basketball, so still a sports
theme!) and was under the impression that for Unit 1 AOS 1 we were only
meant to get students to cover the Design and Development phases (Study
Design, p19-20) and scaffold up to the Analysis and Evaluation phases
later in Units 1 and 2?

P19 Study Design - "As students will not be engaged in the Analysis
stage, they must be provided with details of relevant requirements of
the solution, such as what information the solution has to provide and
the constraints on the solution."

I think you have done this well in the design brief (Provided them
requirements of the solution), but are still also assessing the Analysis
and Evaluation phases? I'm not 100% on either way, but as I have just
developed a SAC that doesn't assess either of those phases, I would be
interested on some clarification from people far smarter than myself on
what we should be doing?

Either way, I love the concept of a SAC on Dream Team!

Cheers

Trav

Hi all,
Here's one I'm currently working on. It's a bit of a work in
progress, I would appreciate any comments and/or advice. I've tailored
it to footy as I have a class entirely of footy mad boys. I was planning
4 x 55 periods for it.
Cheers
Damien

No- You'll need an ASIO clearance first.

I would think that at Year 11, you would want to develop a SAC
that
would a) assess their understanding of the key knowledge and
skills and
        b) appeal to their interests. After all, we want these kids to
enroll in
our Year 12 subjects come July.

Over the years I have used students co-curricular interests to
direct me
as to what type of case study might be appropriate for their
interest.
And of course it is important to have FUN with the Year 11
curriculum.
At Year 12 you don't have as much flexibility compared with Year
11.

The example in the study design is for Enrollment trends at a
school.
This might be interesting to some, but other case studies might
be more
appealing to the kids. So you might need to do a little thinking
outside
the box! Perhaps we could use the list to brainstorm?

        :)
