Hi Paul,

I have always used a magazine, I tell them a few weeks out to bring one in, this keeps their interest levels up. I don’t get them to convert the whole magazine, just a small sample of it. Some part that they can "add value" to. I have attached a sample.

It loads text from XML.

The added value I get kids to put in would be Videos, subscription forms, forums etc

Subject: [Yr11 Information Technology] Unit 1 Outcome 1

Dear All,

I'm about to start Outcome 1 and would like some clarification on what is acceptable as a printed information product.

I usually use the school handbook where the student select a few pages to create their on-line info product.

They have asked me is the following acceptable:

school journal
book/novel
textbook eg IT, chemistry, maths

I think the school journal and textbook is ok but not the book/novel as it is not an information product.
I also tell them they cannot use an information product that already exists on the internet eg woman's weekly magazine, TV shows, movies.

What do others think? What do others use?

Thanking you for any replies.
