Hi Folks,

Just registered for the Australian Informatics Programming
competition (closing date Fri 3rd April, competition Thurs 7th May ).
Interesting that the site
http://orac.amt.edu.au/cgi-bin/contests/index_all.pl is hosting and
has links to the the following competitions:

This machine is currently hosting the following competitions.

Olympiades Régionales d'Informatique Franco-Australiennes
French-Australian Regional Informatics Olympiad
Australian Invitational Informatics Olympiad (closed on 19 February
2009, results available)

The following links might also be of interest.
Online Training Site (for practising your skills all year round)
AIOC Overview (background information on the Australian Informatics
Olympiad Committee)
AIOC Activities (detailed information on all Australian events and
activities)
AIOC Announcements List (a very low-traffic mailing list for announcing
AIOs and other competitions)

The only snag is the languages accepted are : C. C++, Caml, Haskell,
Pascal ... which schools are doing any of these languages ?? ( I am
doing PHP, Actionscript 3.0 and Python)

If not why not ? If so, why aren't we aligned with the Universities ?
If not let's start another discussion .....

However, there is a rich list of past samples on their tutorial
site going back a number of years.

So for great sample tasks and problems it is worth registering and
checking out even if your students don't go into it ...

Take Care
