i had already attempted as u instructed but simply got an error message that the user was not found, despite the fact that both students had registered and had logged on to my blog and left comments

next week i will get them to set up their own blogs and then see if i can add them, although i had thought that as soon as they registered a domain name would be allocated to them  and that they would therefore automatically have a blog of their own

ahh the joy of being a novice! its like the first time i used a word processor in the 80s and didnt know that i could cut, copy and paste. those were the days!

  It looks like you are using edublogs.  I'm not sure which edublog you are using, but let's presume the teacher blog and the student blogs are the same (I haven't used the student blog yet, so not sure if this will work for it). 

  Once inside the admin area  <<your_url.edublogs.org/wp-admin>>, go to the "users" tab and enter the e-mail address of another user.  Set the role to "contributor".  This should allow them to contribute to the blog. 

  I'm not sure that this is right, but try it.  

  If you need more help, send me an e-mail off the list and I'll see if I can organise some more assistance
