Hi Andrew,
I have had used a practical component using old computers and it worked real=
ly well (as long as you don't want to use them again!).
For the network part of the course, I had the students bring in their own co=
mputers and we used them to set up a network. They played a network computer=
game over this network to make sure it worked. It was a fun way to introduc=
e the components that make up a network. It depends a lot on the kids you ha=
ve in your class, I had several who were right into computers and networking=
and they pretty much ran the session.
Regards

Damn forgot the attachment!
Hi all
I am teaching yr 11 IT for the first time next year (with 25 kids!)
anyway i have just started having a look at it and thinking about the curric=
ulum
i have produced a course outline (both for myself and for the students) - se=
e attached
I would appreciate any feedback on it from others who have or are teaching u=
nits 1 and 2
in particular unit 2 outcome 2 (networks) seems fairly dry -- any1 got any i=
deas to jazz it up?
I was thinking of some practical component using old PCs or something - anyb=
ody tried something like that?
overall thought the course looks pretty fun - lost of room for the kids to e=
xpress themselves and be creative
