[vet-mm] How do you deliver your course? LMS? Google Classroom? Google Site?

I used Moodle years ago and I liked it too. We’ve transitioned to SEQTA, which is good but doesn’t have everything I need. It is good for delivering the course, and for holding students’ work as a record but their work is not easy to see at a glance.
So what I use now is a combination. I use Moodle to hold resources for my own benefit. Students don’t access this now. I use SEQTA for delivering my course (the online lessons are nice and mostly customisable), assessment, student feedback, record keeping and holding students’ uploaded work files. I ask students to create a wix page (I did use Wordpress a few years ago) to keep as an online portfolio. This is completely suitable (and every so often I create a PDF version for authentication and backup) except for displaying some animation and video. In these cases the students set up a YouTube account and provide a link on their wix site to their work (which I already have a copy of anyhow).
It sounds complicated when I write it down, but it works for us. We’ve totally moved away from anything paper based and we are completely electronic. When my students do paper based work, they keep it in their pigeon hole and then scan and upload it when finished.

We used moodle a few years ago and have also used Google classroom in the past but I and now the school have converted over to Microsoft OneNote. It is really powerful, and great for tracking and marking student work – you can see exactly where they are up to and simple to navigate between each student account to see their work.
It can be a little confusing to set it up for the 1st time but I highly recommend it and once everything is moved across into it, it is very easy to manage and students get the hang of it very quickly.
Good luck.

Subject: [vet-mm] How do you deliver your course? LMS? Google Classroom? Google Site?
Hello,
I have been using Moodle for a many years to deliver my course, and quite successfully… But there are glitches with our server and I am now the only person in our school using the LMS to deliver. In the last 4 years we have transitioned to Compass and whilst this is quite suitable for a CMS, it is not an LMS and it does not really do what I want/need for my program.
I am willing to make the jump / move to a new platform, but just wondered what others use. I have had a little look around in Google classroom and I’m not quite sure that this is what I want either. I’d prefer something externally hosted so that I don’t need to rely on local servers or deal with the power outages and issues that causes up here.
So, what do you use?
I would probably have to use something that is free, since the school already pays for Compass and my budget probably would not extend as far as a new LMS.
Thanks
Fran
