I don't know for sure whether or not it's possible as I am only a VET trainer, not a VCE teacher, but I would argue that it wouldn't be fair on the students. At any other school, students doing the same coursework will get a Cert III qualification, and they won't. Most importantly, because they wouldn't actually get the Cert III, the units of competency also couldn't be used for credit transfer/RPL towards further courses after school because they're not "official", and the students can't list the Cert on their resume. In my opinion, for those reasons it really wouldn't be fair on students who wish to pursue an area of CDM as a career.

Hello everyone,
I?ve got a question to ask. My Principal has asked if we are able to run VCE VET Creative Digital Media without the VET component. She thinks that since VET CDM is also a VCE subject, we should be able to ditch the RTO but run it has we always have. It means our students can still take the subject they love, still have to abide by every requirement of VCE, still follow the same units of competency, but just not get the VET certificate.
Does anyone know if this is possible?

Hi Jeanean
?
>From my understanding, a student:
1- can obtain an ATAR score and a VET certificate on completion of the course.
2- can complete and obtain a VET certificate without an ATAR score.
3- cannot attain the VCE ATAR without completing the VET certificate satisfactorily.
Hope that helps.
Regards
Harb
