Hi Ana,

Hope all is going well for you at ACMI. It sounds like an awesome job!

I'm now teaching at Melbourne Grammar - up the road.  I have two queries
that are kind of related to ACMI.

1/ do you have any fancy interactive technology that you could set up at
a school? We have a bit of cash to spend for Media/ Arts week. I was
thinking of something we could run at lunch times or a display if sone sort.

2/ we were going to have a live green screen combined with video. Is there a
soft ware you can recommend that does it live?

Would love your feedback.

Hello everyone.

A lot of you have met me at different PDs over the years and some of you
know that I have just taken on an education role at ACMI. One of my jobs is
to find links between what ACMI offer and what VET IDM teachers need. Here
are the first three.

DreamWorks Exhibition

The most exciting news is that the DreamWorks Exhibition starts on the 10th
of April. This exhibition has so many aspects that link directly to
CUFANM301A Create 2D digital animations.  We are hoping to produce some
resources that connect directly with parts of the training package.

If you are interested in coupling it with a film screening of How to Train
You Dragon, Shrek or Chicken Run, its advised you book into the film in the
morning and exhibition after lunch.

Just a heads up that Screen It is about to kick off this Friday with a
Blackboard Collaborate Session on the theme - Reflection. Entries are due
from Friday 29 August 2014 and close at 5pm on Friday 12 September 2014. If
you do a Term 1 or 2 Animation SAC it would work well, or term 3 would work
if you can plan to finish a week before the end of term.

For those of you just starting to plan or yet to plan your Animation SAC,
this is a great opportunity for your students to do their SAC and enter a
national competition.  Just organise the Animation SAC as you normally
would, but include the Screen It theme  Reflection.

Hothouse 2014 has a focus on animation!

If you have any amazing animators in your unit 1/2 or 3/4 class, make sure
they apply for Hothouse. Ten students are hand-picked each year and dropped
into a fast-paced production studio, to gain hands-on production experience,
contacts in the industry and plenty of career inspiration. The program takes
place over one action-packed week in the July school holidays. And best of
all, it's free! If they are selected they will work with some amazing
animation professionals.
