Hi Travis,
One exercise I do is to bring in some magazines (as glossy and pic-filled as I can scavenge) and ask them to manually cut and paste images, ads etc that illustrate various elements and principles of design, and to annotate the image, pointing out the various principles/elements shown.
Sometimes I get them to make these into mini posters to go up at home for revision, other times in their visual diary.
They could do this electronically but then they just look up the element or principle and nab the images being used to illustrate the particular website.
Regards
Claire

Colleagues,
I have gotten so stuck in to the 2D animation and scripting units that I
have been neglecting writing my first unit - Principles of visual design!
I was wondering whether anyone has any resources that they are willing to
share on copyright (I had a great quix but lost it!) or questions on
typography. I have all of the information on them but nothing to give the
kids to extend their thinking!
Also, haven't heard back from the VCAA about actionscript 3.0 yet but have
adapted some assessment tasks for both the principles of design/webpage
assessment combo and the 2D animation/scripting combo and also written
tutorials on interactivity for them so if anyone is interested, give me a
holler!
Have a great weekend
