There are also schools that are further out from Melbourne who would be
absolutely delighted to host a gathering of teachers doing PD.
Perhaps those schools might want someone to come and deliver the PD - a
less stressful method and enables the teachers at that school to also
participate...
Experience in delivery of IT PD in the country has shown that even when
we go to country the number of teachers who can actually attend is quite
small. It is usually uneconomic if we also have to pay fro a venue and
we have to pay travel for a presenter. Etc.
Are we prepared to pay a little more and get donations of space etc - if
so then it could happen ...
Think about it
Cheers

In this day and age we shouldn't let distance get in the way of
training, but I totally understand the situation of our country
colleagues.
Perhaps we could have some networking groups set up to provide hands on
support. Or we could set up some time for online training....
There are web gurus out there who would be able to set up some form of
sharing session where specific skills are focussed on.
Just some thoughts

As a staffer in the country, it concerns me that there is a distinct
lack of training that is not Melbourne based. I think this is going to
alienate those of us teaching in country schools wrt specific skills
training and miss some key networking opportunities.
I wonder what the thoughts of other list participants are on this
issue...

Subject: [vet-mm] follow up to Gear Up day
Hello to everyone who attended the PixelEd Gear Up for 2007 day on Nov
13. On the day it became apparent that there was a need for some
sessions on the basics of Flash, PhotoShop etc. I've been looking into
the possibility of running them either as part of the PixelEd One Day
Conference on Thursday Dec 7th or at a later date. However as part of
our agreement with lab3000 we don't duplicate sessions that they offer,
and they are offering basic courses in these programs in the new year. I
can recommend them to you - here is their program for Term 1 2007:
