Hi Andrew,
We use the Barnes books which to be totally honest are fantastic. They
suit the course quite well and I have loads of documents I can send you
if you would like them.
I don't want to bombard you with too much stuff... let me know if you
want it...

Andrew
I am still away and back tomorrow then starting to think about the new
year. I have only read your problems in creating the course. Thanks
Maggie for some of your responses.
A couple of 'things' to consider:
1. Does your school use an RTO to auspice to course? If so they have a
responsibility to aid all trainers under the AQTF.
2. Pearson Education provide 'Tertiary Press" books for the Cert III and
Cert II I have a class set of these and use some of the activities from
them.
3. Allan Barnes and AIET have good workbooks but I tend to mix and match
activites tyoi suit the students - may use a whole unit from the
workbook or use my own activities with the Tertiary Press books.
4. Get to know your students - this will help in setting tasks. Remember
VET is designed to be assessed in various ways you can use role plays,
project tasks, verbal tests, demonstrations etc. I don't use the same
assessment plans from year to year therefore making it more relevant for
the students I have and this is what is implicitly mentioned in the
AQTF. Although in saying this may tasks tend to be similar each year.
5. The Cert III VITTA Disk is quite useful for those teachers with
students doing scored assessment - thoroughly recommend it.
6. The VET day late Feb would be quite useful to you if you can get time
release More information on VET than the session presented at the VITTA
conference last November.
7. In March VCAA will be running a VET scored assessment workshop keep
an eye out for details - recommended for new teachers with students
undertaking scored assessment.
I have a number of websites and some unit checklists that can be use to
develop tasks- this is being developed into a format that can be put on
line and can be used and updated by other registered members. A wiki or
some other secure social website is being considered, probably in
conjunction with VITTA.
Sorry I can't give you much more information at present as I don't have
my notebook with me but I hope this helps
Regards
Peter Nash

I do understand your frustration. Have you contacted Allan Barnes --
abarnes at aiet.com.au. check out his website and contact him. He runs
courses and has written some textbooks.
See you at the VITTA VCE/VET day.

Yes I know but I need to teach the subject before then so where do I
get task samples?
Some units say they go for 60 hours and I get to know about what to
teach is a few unit course lines. It is really not well explained and
I need some help.
