Hi Paul,

This should probably be okay if you have enough students to run a class.
Box Hill should appear as an RTO on the Vass system? Another alternative
could be another secondary college in your region that runs Cisco and
has a program that allows external students to attend your college.

Kind regards,

Hi Kevork,

We do not run a Cisco VCE VET program, however many students in years
10/11
are interested in doing the CCNA course at Box Hill Tafe. Is this
acceptable
by VCAA and can they still receive all the credits towards their VCE?

   Hi Folks,

Sorry for the cross posts but this is worth looking at a few
times I
think.

I know we have important things to do with exams on the horizon, so in
the
spirit of teaching IT and VET ( which includes Cisco CCNA ) and a bit
of
each please read on .

How many of us knew that the new Cisco program available in Secondary
Schools as a VCE VET program for the 2 year course rewarded students in
the
following unprecedented way ?

Quoting from
http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/vet/programs/cisco/cisco.html#H2N40003C

"Credit in the VCE
Students who complete half the Cisco Networking Academy program (that is
they receive credit for either UTENES106AA or UTENES206AA) will be
eligible
for two units credit towards their VCE: one Unit 3-4 sequence.
Students who complete the entire Cisco Networking Academy Program (both
UTENES106AA and UTENES206AA) will be eligible for four units credit
towards
their VCE: two Unit 3-4 sequences.

ENTER Contribution
Students who receive a Unit 3-4 sequence (for either UTENES106AA or
UTENES206AA) will be eligible for a 10% increment towards their ENTER
(10%
of the average of the primary four scaled studies).
Students who receive two Unit 3-4 sequences (for both UTENES106AA and
UTENES206AA) will be eligible for two 10% increments towards their VCE
(10%
of the average of the primary four scaled studies). "

That is, Cisco students who finish the course get (2 x Units 3 -4)
VCE
credit PLUS (2 x 10%) ENTER bonus . That is, it counts as slightly
better
than the 5th and 6th subject at Year 12 since the 10% is the average
of
the top 4 which by definition would have to be higher numerically than
10%
of a 5th or 6th subject.

 Keep well
