Australian Academy of Design - forthcoming exhibition
Works on Paper¹ by Alice Parker
18 Jan. 7 Feb. 2008
Clement Meadmore Room
Australian Academy of Design
220 Ingles St, Port Melbourne.
Exhibition open to the public Mon-Fri 9am-5pm.
Alice Parker, a former student of the Australian Academy of Design, returns
this January with her exhibition Works on Paper¹.
Opening night and media viewing will be held on Friday 18 January, 2008,
6-8pm
³This project was initiated through the enquiry of space, and the elements
that lie within space - colour, line, composition, scale and texture and
resulted in playful and complex paintings, drawings that affirm the primacy
of pleasure and expression amid a vortex of shifting polarities - classical
order/intuitive expressionism, conscious thought/unconscious desire,
breaking the barriers of the established patterns and relationships of
painting and drawing², said Parker today.
Parker uses acrylic paint, oil pastel, oil paint, ink, shellac, collage and
coloured pencil on paper and board.
Parker says her time at the Academy provided her with the fundamental
processes of realising and materialising an idea¹. Now undertaking further
study in the Fine Art Drawing department at RMIT, Parker uses sculpture,
painting, drawing and installations to evolve ideas metaphysical into
resolved moments.
The Australian Academy of Design offers the Bachelor of Design Arts with
major studies in Advertising, Graphic Design, Photo Media and Visual Arts,
and the Diploma of Fashion Design.
