[Technical] Dell Computers

Hi Grant,

We bought Dell PCs and notebooks last year. We have had a couple of
issues but it is more to do with after sales service.

 

We were assured that the DELL badges could not be removed. Not so.
Several went missing during the first period. We have glued the rest in
place. We are still waiting for DELL to give us some replacements after
3 months. They are not good at following up issues. Our other gripe has
been to do with Audigy sound cards (our Music dept needed these for
their program to interface the keyboards). DELL assured us that they
could supply these cards in low profile despite us querying this. This
has not been the case. The issue has now been resolved by them supplying
adaptors but it was a long drawn out process.

 

Other than that we are happy with the machines. DELL also gave us a good
deal on leasing. Make sure the details are tight on the order form and
both parties are clear as to what is wanted/provided.

Hi All,

 

We have been investigating new computer options for our school and Dell
is a possible contender.   It would be great if the schools who have
been using Dell can provide feedback on their products and support for
us so that we can make an informed desicion as we never have had
dealings with Dell before.   Also if your school has been using a brand
of computer which has great support and is a reliable product, we would
love to hear about it.
