[Technical] DeepFreeze Vs HDGuard

Hi all,

We have been using HD Guard at Bairnsdale SC for about 2 years. We run it on
250 curriculum computers with great success. It has dramatically reduced the
amount of administration that we do on desktop computers. I have not used
DeepFreeze, but I can't imagine that it does anything extra that would
justify the extra cost.

The freeware product may be a useful alternative, however it may lack the
ability to centrally manage the setup. HD Guard has a centrally managed
console (called HD Guard Master) that allows you to activate/deactivate the
program on all computers (or on groups of computers - such as a computer
room). It also has the ability to do this on a schedule so that computers
can pick up windows updates etc.

Hi Wayne,

You can also download the free Shared Computer Toolkit, where one
feature tries to do much the same thing - restoring the c-drive to
pristine condition whenever it starts up, forgetting everything the kids
have done to it.

Probably doesn't do it as well as either of those specialized products -
you'd have to try it and see.
