Anyone else got this advert ?
Seems a bit borderline as if they are handling the govt. grants ??
Rather over the top pricing.
I am interested in Ultranet solution rather than thousands down this pipe.
Or an integrated solution a la First Class like Roland at Westall.
Any one know where to get the grant forms ?

A critically important Absentee/Truancy notice re Govt Grant
Dear Principal,
The rising student absenteeism problem has prompted the Government to allocate a $2m budget to help stop truancy and keep parents
better informed as to the whereabouts of their children. The recent article showing Lynne Kosky from the Herald Sun 25/4/05 has been
attached for your perusal.
Our latest windows based v6.18 electronic Student Attendance Monitoring System - SAMSpxp (period by period), is a multi functional
electronic student time & attendance package with a wealth of timely, highly pertinent and statutory reports. It now combines ANY
Timetable program data together with student, teacher & curricula data to effectively highlight any attendance anomaly during each
period.
*
Data is captured using a MicroTraq hand-held laser barcode reader, from barcoded class roll lists, carried by each teacher
during each period.
*
Rostered monitor runners collect a reader from administration, hand it to each class teacher, who swipes the pen-like device
along both the ID period class barcode plus only the barcode beside those students physically absent.
*
This MicroTraq stored data is instantly downloaded to the PC server from each returned reader and uploaded into SAMSpxp.
Co-ordinators etc can instigate absence anomaly action - SMS, email, phone - before the period end.
*
Authorised excursions override physical absence.
*
An audit trail is automatically created back to individual teachers.
SAMSpxp was trialed with Government assistance at Mt Waverley SC during 2003/2004 and already has been installed in many schools in
Victoria, NSW & WA. Attached for your assistance is a general resume for all SAMS configurations to allow you to formulate your own
solution and costing. For further information please complete details below. Additionally you can view our web site

The licence fee is a one off charge and the only ongoing costs are for Annual Support & Updates and if applicable NetRoll hosting.
The licence fee enables SAMS to be loaded onto any number of workstations within the school without incurring additional charges.
Terms of Trading
Our terms of trading are a 50% deposit on order with the balance due in 7 days after the software is installed.
Installation of Software
SAMS and NetSupport Access service should be installed by school staff with online telephone help by Aussie Made Software (AMS)
staff. If required or preferred, AMS can send a trainer to your school to handle the complete installation of the software. AMS
installation of the software does not include installing, configuring, downloading of hardware drivers or assisting in any way with
hardware (including bar code readers, wedge readers, ClassNet devices, printers etc) unless supplied by AMS.
Training & Consultation on Software
Once all software is installed, the first task is to assist with the set up of the import/export of student data to and from Oasis,
Cases/21, Maze or EdSAS etc. Once this has been completed, the first training session can be undertaken. Additional training is
then provided as you progress in using the software, as and when needed.
SAMS Support & Updates
SAMS support covers that by telephone, fax, email or NetSupport Access service.
SAMS updates include the general maintenance of the program, AMS accepted requests for change and updates made necessary as a result
of legislative changes.
The cost of support is 12.5% of the initial software licence plus modules selected.
NetSupport Access Service
If you have any problem or require additional staff training, NetSupport Access service enables AMS to access your computer via the
Internet, and to then provide you with training and support on your data, whilst you remain 'in your school'. Should you definitely
request to have an AMS trainer come onsite, this can be arranged. The quoted 'Training and Consultation' hours are not restricted to
just training and consultation as they include both total hours spent onsite, on the phone or NetSupport Access service. This time
may include discussions on how to best handle the changeover, general advice and guidance resolving issues that may arise, loading
of software updates if required etc. In other words, time spent is time charged.
Travel & Accommodation
Travel and accommodation outside the Sydney metropolitan area will be invoiced separately by AMS and will be charged at cost before
GST. This cost can be reduced where AMS can train and install more than one school on the same visit.
SAMS2000 - The Next Generation in School Software
SAMS creates printed Roll Call Lists of every HOME class. These can be weekly, fortnightly or monthly showing the school-day dates,
with each student's library barcode beside his or her name. The teacher identifies who is absent and marks 'a' in the column
provided. Roll call lists are returned to Admin who then scan only the marked absentees using either recommended 'MiniBar'
($350+GST) or 'MicroTraq' ($295+GST) barcode readers. This action automatically updates all student records in a matter of seconds.
An HP Laser printer or equivalent is required to print the barcodes on the printed roll lists.
SAMS2000 - Swipe Station Module
This module of SAMS requires the installation of a barcode 'Wedge' or 'Slot' card reader attached to a workstation monitor screen eg
in a Yr 11 common room. Students swipe their card through the reader to confirm their attendance. Because SAMS automatically detects
late arrivals and/or early leavers, you can optionally produce late arrival slips on an attached receipt printer. Teachers can also
leave broadcast or specific messages for any student, which appear on the screen when the student swipes on. 'Promag' Keyboard
Emulation Wedge Reader ($360+GST) for card swiping and the 'Star'TSP643 Thermal Receipt Printer/serial cable ($689/$29.50+GST) for
printing slips are recommended.
SAMS2000 - Poll Station Module
This requires 'daisy chain' installation of wall mounted 'ClassNet' barcode reading terminal devices either in every room or at a
number of strategic points within the school. Students swipe their cards when they arrive at school or each room enabling the roll
to be updated automatically when 'polled' by SAMS. This module also detects late arrivals. 'ClassNet' units can be wired back to
administration PC by a low cost twisted pair wiring. Alternatively where wiring is impossible eg sports field, the stored data can
be periodically transferred manually using a 'data tag', which requires a further download kit ($260+GST) into the PC. However,
automatic centralised automatic roll marking, saves teacher time and has positive implications for school operation. 'ClassNet'
devices ($500+GST) each require installation by an electrician. A single intelligent converter ($229+GST) is also required at the PC
server for any number of 'ClassNet' readers connected throughout the school.
SAMSpxp - Period x Period Module
This ground-breaking module, combining student, teacher, class & timetable data, manages the attendance of students on a period by
period or subject basis for selected periods on any given day. Period barcoded roll lists for each teacher are produced whenever
required, Extensive reporting, before the end of each period, includes even % subject attendance records of students, groups or the
whole school. Rugged 'MicroTraq' portable barcode readers, collected and returned to admin within each period by daily rostered
monitors, are required for scanning only actually absent students by each teacher during each period. Prior activated excursion
lists override those marked absent. An optical download kit to the PC is required. 'MicroTraq' portable barcode readers ($295+GST)
and PC optical download adaptor ($95+GST).
SAMS2000 - NetRoll Module
This program allows the upload of student data to a secure web site, allowing parents to access student attendance records,
statistics and messaging online at work or at home.
