Hi Neville and fellow teachers,

Thank you for your comment, Neville, I appreciate it and agree with your view.

Some of my students' work happened to be on the display before and I never wrote a comment but folowed procedures.
But this time I was really excited and having completed marking the paper and having seen working proect in a minute of weakness
i decided to share the minute of my happiness. I hope you will understand me better now.

Regards, Alex

This may be an unpopular view, but, I don't believe that teachers should be using this forum to tout their students work, no matter how outstanding the project may be. It should be judged on its merits, not on how it is promoted. This is not what this forum was established to do.

Dear SE teachers,

I perfectly understand that this is a strange way to address the issue of selection folio and systems for 2009 season of Excellence but after many years of assessing students work I was overwehlmed with the relevance, quality and ideas of my student, Akila's, work. The System he constructed may be used for commercial projects as well.

The poject name is "Video linked remote controlled pets' feeding system".
What it does is :

1. Distributes food and water at certain times programmed with different timer settings. (This may be considered as a standard SE students'work and I would not be so excited to send the message to all Victorian SE teachers. But the second option below is really worth promoting the work for the season of Excellence at the least).

2. The system distributes food and water, controlled by mobile phone with video link. The owner phones home, switches motor to ration the food and water and observes the distribution and feeding process of a pet from any place on our planet.

And all this"stuff" is working! And the student wants to be a vet and he will be!

Dear teachres, some of you will be in the selecting panel soon but, as usual, the names are confidential but I hope that it will be the panel of last year.

Regardless of the names please do not miss this outstanding work when he applies for 2009 VCE Season of Excellence.

Warmest regards,

Alex Roujnikov,

Physics/SE teacher,

Penola Catholic College
