Hi

We are using a mixture of our LMS, OneNote and Microsoft Teams. Instructions will be loaded on our LMS each week to give the boys work. This could be a mixture of any types of work including video of me demonstrating or narrating powerpoint plus activities, theory work, external videos etc. They will have work to submit each week via the LMS and I will support them via email for the bulk of the week, and via Teams where necessary during scheduled class time.

The plan is that twice a week at fixed times we will connect via Microsoft Teams as a class for discussions, including chat, video conversations. Interactive screen sharing etc. For software development, 1 on 1 video chats via Teams would be useful for authenticating work on the SAT so I don't see a lot of issues with this.

Authenticating the U4O2 SAC will be a challenge but I imagine we will have more guidance by then from VCAA on what is acceptable.

Well, today’s VCAA announcement appears to suggest students will be able to develop their software solution at home with ongoing remote monitoring from teachers.

Our school is moving to Zoom next term. I’d be interested to know what everyone is using and how you expect to monitor your student’s work.

Hi Victoria,

NB: I am teaching D.A this year not S.D. but same thing applies.

We are currently using an asynchronous model, but if we do go down a video and/or synchronous model, it is likely to be Microsoft Teams and Stream.

Re: monitoring; If working remotely, if students submit regular updates of their progress (say weekly) via a file sharing app (dropbox, google or onedrive etc ..) then that could work.
Not ideal, but these are not ideal times.

IMHO I think this school year is gone... Hope not.

Tony

Hi,

We are in to our second week on online teaching using Microsoft Teams and so far, so good. Happy to share our experiences.

In regards to the SAT and authentication, no remote solution will be 100%, but this is what I am doing:

  * Google Drive so that I have track their progress using the version control
  * At least fortnightly (will try for weekly) one-on-one reviews of their progress via MS Teams
  * Requesting that they take photos and use screen captures to record them working on their SAT
     * I am telling them this is important for Criteria 10 and the Project Evaluation/Reflection

The UK – who are much further into their school year – are talking about scrapping GCSE & A Level exams and working off SACs completed and teacher estimates.

Ben
