[Year 12 SofDev] Question about teaching IT

I gave mine a case study where they had to design a network (not part of the study -  I know) but then had to peer evaluate the design using some teacher/exam provided criteria. Based on the evaluation they then had to make recommendations to improve the design of the information system based on some additional information around practices, protocols and security issues.

Might be a good practical activity for your kids, plus gives you the ability to teach practical skills in the lead up to the exam such as breaking down a case study.

Hi all,

Just starting to go through Unit 4 outcome 2 with my students and it is currently death by PowerPoint and I wanted to know if anyone had an good ideas or suggestions for teaching the content in a more engaging way?

I prefer teaching practical skills.

It is a theory driven unit, which is good leading into Exam ... make it real with student own experiences with organisational v system objectives and data issues. Do they have part time jobs?
Use your school as a case study. Privacy policies, legal issues and security with data.

You could throw them a practice SAC very early so they see how the theory relates to practice. They back to consolidate theory. 🤷‍♂️
