[Year 12 SofDev] SD exam - C1b - milestone

Hi,

If I was inventing milestones I would choose the start or end of significant tasks or phases. I don’t think I can back this up out of the study guide tho’.

Milestone: End of Analysis Phase
Dependent on: 100% complete all analysis activities including, but not limited to, completing the SRS

On a massive project just finishing the SRS would probably be a thing but on a smaller project I’d stick with phases. I would also suggest to make sure you don’t make a task that has effort (duration)  a milestone, word the milestone so that it includes the words “start” or “end” and have a separate task that includes the actual task with effort estimate.

Same thought as Lisa … I still pull out the “classic” milestones from way back, adapted to the new study design: analysis ends with the SRS, design ends with the blueprint, development ends with the functioning program/system, etc. In this case “software installed on system” was the safest I came up with. I don’t envy the exam markers though …

IMO Students would definitely need to have generated their own additional milestone, as none of the tasks listed are suitable for that purpose.

This one perplexes me.

We are asked to name a milestone for the project, yet none of the listed activities have zero duration.

Are students meant to invent a milestone, such as "End of Project" rather than identify and name one that has been given to them?

What did you guys say for that question?
