[Year 12 SofDev] XML Files with VB

Hi Calum and Mel,

Attached is what is used with my kids in the end. Essentially I used a previously mentioned website (http://vb.net-informations.com/xml/how-to-xml-in-vb.net.htm) for the initial program, and now have a VB solution (attached) that can create/name a new XML file, read from, write to, view contents and search it. I chucked my instructions/code/ramblings into a word document as well.

I’m no brilliant programmer so if anyone wants to take it and make a better version then you are most welcome.

Cheers

Trav

I'm no further forward. Have put all programming on the back burner to focus on the SAT over the last week.

If anyone out there knows about manipulating XML files in VB.......

Hi,
Um, so how are you going with that?
Trying to find something good but my first attempt was a Wrox book and it somewhat blew the students’ minds …
Thanks, Mel

I’m also looking for this sort of thing. I just got my boss to order a book “Visual Basic .NET and XML: Harness the Power of XML in VB.NET<http://VB.NET> Applications” but it won’t be here for a while. I also have to get it from overseas as I don’t think it’s available in Australia - http://www.amazon.com/Visual-Basic-NET-XML-Applications/dp/047112060X.
In the meantime, YouTube and DreamInCode are my best friends and if I get something together I’ll put it on the lists!

Cheers

Does anyone have any examples of VB (2015) projects which can read, manipulate or write XML files - which they would be able to share?

Many thanks,

Calum
