[Year 12 SofDev] Victorian Curriculum

Dear colleagues

How the Digital Technologies curriculum is implemented will be a school decision, and for some schools it will be integrated and for others, particularly in secondary schools it may be offered as a stand-alone subject; and for some it will be a blend of integrated and standalone. There are a range of factors that will influence the decision made by schools, but of course teacher expertise is one of these - schools need to closely examine the content descriptions and determine who is best to design and deliver the learning programs so that students have the best opportunities of demonstrating the achievement standards. There are lots of decisions to be made!

it is designed to be implanted into all domain areas. The difficulty may be getting teachers to teach algorithms and programming in our younger years. We are looking at using SNAP and I have changed my 9/10 electives to involve programming. Game Maker, SNAP Java script in VET .

A Mathematics teacher has just approached me about the new content that is included in their text for 2017. It's very interesting that they are including sorting, specifically a selection sort algorithm!

I was straight into Sof Dev mode, flicking through the text and showing visualisations. Sounds like I will be a "special" guest in Year 8 Math next year.

Anyone noticed other subject changes including a link to technology / algorithms?
