Hi all,
I'm not teaching VCE 2016, but a suggestion for those wondering of things to do...
1. Give the kids a copy of the VCAA study design for the first outcome task they will be doing to get them to familiarise themselves with the key skills and key knowledge required for the task....discuss as a class....
2. Perhaps they might do a small introductory programming task for skills practice.
3. Perhaps they might use the time to come up with some topical tasks of their own so they "take ownership" of some of their learning.
4. Discuss and / or set up a planner for the unit together as a class..accounting for breaks, holidays etc so students can help themselves be organised with teacher guidance...
5. Discuss some real world examples relating to the topics or content to be covered, and perhaps review one in more detail.
6. Think about or discuss some excursion options ?
7.....
These are just some thoughts for those who may be at a loss for ideas...on top of just reading a text book!

With the first outcome being focused on building their programming skills, it feels pretty important to get them moving on coding.

Year 12 Transition begins next week for us and even though I will not be the teacher of this subject next year, I will be taking the orientation classes. I have never taught this subject before and don?t even know where to start. As it is a new study design, just wondering if anyone has thought about what they will be doing for orientation time and might be so kind to share with me (and others).
