[Year 12 SofDev] Python and Tkinter

Victoria, try getting hold of portable Python. It's on the Python site (it's in the 'alternative implementations' link) and version 2.7.6 has pygame and some nice tools to do exactly what you want(interface development). It's in the QT tools that comes packaged with this.
I made up a few USB's with this on them and we are motoring along!
