Hi Stephen and colleagues

Yes, we have a Unit 3 and 4 study called Algorithmics that is almost accredited (27 August). This study will be offered in 2015. It is a higher education scored study, which means that it is pitched at first-year university standard and will also attract a study score, rather than an increment like extension studies. Monash and Melbourne unis have also just confirmed that if a student successfully completes VCE Algorithmics (Higher Education Scored Study), they will get two first-year subject credits in particular degrees (the specific text is below).

I’m not certain of your school’s capacity to offer a study for one student, however, there are options available, such as distance education, and joining other schools either in a face-to-face situation or through virtual learning networks. Students who successfully complete VCE Algorithmics (HESS) will be eligible for two units of first year credit towards the following degrees:

·         Bachelor of Computer Science, Bachelor of Information Technology (Monash University)

·         Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Biomedicine (University of Melbourne).


Students will also receive prerequisite waivers that allow them to directly enter second year Computer Science studies. Other universities may also offer accelerated pathways.

Hi Paula,

In february when I attended the VCE day in the city and you ran your presentation, there was a pathway from memory for secondary students to take some sort of option with Melbourne Uni  I think. Can you please provide me with some more information if this makes some sense, I have a really good coder at year 11 doing the SD 3/4 and he would be interested.
