Hi all,

I would like to share with you a product we have been testing (along with a number of other schools) for the last 8 months. It's called Stile - http://stileeducation.com

Before saying any more, I'd just like to point out that other than being involved in testing, I have absolutely no links to the product or company! I'm just a big fan of it.

What is it? - Essentially, a cloud based site where teachers can organise course materials, give students access to those materials and allow students to submit work for marking. You set up a 'Subject', create any number of 'Lessons' within the subject and add 'Activities' to each lesson. You can give information/instructions, upload files, images, embed video, provide space for students to answer or upload files to you.

The downside - It's not free.

What I like:

*         It's very easy to set up, in terms of adding content, adding students, marking and collecting work

*         Runs from the Cloud - no network setup/permissions at school

*         Runs on Mac, PC, iPad, Android

*         The students like it

*         It's slick, responsive, well designed

*         You can organise all your existing materials into a structured course, which is reusable next year

*         Students can work at their own pace

*         Great for students who are absent/sick

*         Not subject specific - good for use in teaching IT, but equally suitable for every subject in a school

*         Tech Support has been great from Stile

*         It's possible to share your content with other teachers in your school

*         It's Australian, developed in Melbourne I believe

This is not trying to be a full LMS, but for organising your teaching materials, getting them out to your students and collecting work from them, it's great.

I see there is a free trial on the website link I have given, but if you would like to see a couple of 'real' courses I have set up and used with students this year, send me a note at munrocs at aquinas.vic.edu.au<mailto:munrocs at aquinas.vic.edu.au> and I should be able to make you a 'Teacher' on my system.

I have been teaching for many (too many) years, and this is one of the best, most useful products I have ever used in the classroom. Hope that's not overstating how much I like this product!
