[Year 12 SofDev] Genius? - from your Administrator

Dear Everyone

 Some in our community felt Mark's comments below about an absent Asian
worker was offensive,  whilst others thought it was a legitimate attempt to
express some humour albeit stereotyping the person.
Whilst a proportion of our community are not offended ( including as we saw,
an Asian teacher) , the risk of offence to some or many is very real as
shown by some of the responses. 

For that reason I would like to:
1. Apologise for any offence taken by the comments
2. Recommend we remain mindful that our forum is an institutionally
sponsored one with support from the VCAA, Swinburne University, VITTA.
Consequently, our words and actions need to be consistent with a broader set
of principles and values that do not risk an interpretation of stereotyping
any race, religion or other category or affiliation people may have be that
by choice or by birth.  

If there are any views about the issue feel free to contact me directly,
however I hope that you can all accept my reasons for taking this position.

Wishing everyone the best year ever with their classes and/or any other
endeavour :)

Hi Mark,

In this politically correct age there are still some people who are not
easily offended at humour (even those that enforce stereotypes) and don't
consider it appropriate to talk for everyone.
