I beg to differ,
Many students here once they get to Year 11/12 are replacing their laptops with iPads. They can do almost everything and the students do like the convience of the size/weight etc.
I have my Sof Dev text book on the iPad too.
You can code on iPads using apps such as Codea. Apps such as Cargo Bot work really well to teach programming too!
That said, their isnt as much flexibility as a laptop and I would be rushing to limit myself to one anytime soon for VCE IT classes.

Only reasonable use would be as the platform for which you are developing the s/w & this is more applic to android as it is easier to put on device Andrew
