Dear Steve,
I haven't been in touch with you for a long time after the computer science
for high school workshop.
Next year, I will be teaching IT Software development. I am thinking of
using Python. I got a copy of "Introduction to Programming Using Python"
written by Daniel Liang. But I would like to have more resource at hand.
May I ask for help to provide some advices on what resources available for
students and myself to learn Python and update ICT knowledge such as ICT
teacher association?
Thanks and looking forward to hearing from you.
Regards,
Weiyuan

CS4HS workshop, University of Melbourne, 22-23 November 2012.
Organised by Steven Bird (Melbourne), Paula Christophersen (VCAA),
Bernd Meyer (Monash).
CS4HS is an initiative sponsored by Google to promote Computer Science
and Computational Thinking in the secondary curriculum. The CS4HS
Victoria meetings play an important role in preparation for a new VCE
study in Computer Science. The workshop will be of particular interest
to secondary teachers of maths, science, and information technology.
The goals of this workshop are: (i) to update secondary teachers on
current developments in the field of Computer Science; (ii) to provide
hands-on training with innovative methods for teaching computational
thinking; (iii) to contribute to the development of a new Computer
Science subject in the Victorian Certificate of Education; and (iv) to
discuss sustainable models for ongoing PD in teaching computational
thinking.
As in the previous two CS4HS workshops, the program will
consist of presentations on topics in CS and CS education,
together with various training activities, large group discussions,
and working group sessions.
Workshop participation is limited, and priority will be given to those
who register by the deadline and commit to attending the full
program. Lunches are provided. There is no registration fee.
Unfortunately there is no CRT support available. Participants
from outside Melbourne can apply for travel subsidies and
accommodation, subject to the limits of our budget (requests
need to be emailed to Steven Bird by 8 November).
Please register your interest using the following form:
