Hi Kent,

There are a number of resources on the SofDev site on Python . See http://www.edulists.com.au/sofdev/python/python_resources.htm to get started.
You seem to have relinquished Objective C at this stage ......
Perhaps Paula or Claudia can comment about the prevalence of Python as a language of choice in Software Development.
Otherwise, you will give the students a strong sense of continuity beyond secondary school if they pursue programming as Python is quite popular in the tertiary sector. I know Steven Bird lecturer at Melbourne Uni wrote a book on Python which is still linked through the Software Development archives http://nltk.org/book and online for access.

Good luck and well done

Subject: [Year 12 SofDev] SD Language qn for 2013..

Hi all,
I am considering swapping to Python for 2013 as my language for Soft Dev.
Used VB.NET this year....

Comments..thoughts, resources suggestions welcomed as I prep for next year..
I plan to run ver2.7..and the Python web site looks a great resource for content/learning tools.
Particularly interested in how you approached the Unit3 oc2 and Unit4 oc1 with this language.
As a backup (plan B)..am considering the Win7 SDK for the portable device OC's..

Also considering using it(Python and maybe the Win7SDK) with my 10's too, comments welcome on this strategy too please where possible..and maybe some planning ideas wouldnt go astray either.
Briefly looked at the language and already like what I see.
Very much in planning for 2013 mode just now..all ideas welcomed at this point.
