Hi Kevork,
yep, I am certainly pleasantly regularly surprised by the goodwill of fellow 'listers'. I always speak highly of these lists when mentioning them..even this week at a PD session I gave the lists a 'plug' as a professional learning tool and mentioned additionally that links to various curriculum areas were also available on them. (the PD was to do wih the Catholic ICON system being developed presently in a similar fashion to the Ultranet you would be familiar with.).
Cheers and good luck with your kids' exams to all who read this...

Dear Sonia,
My colleague at Ringwood SC just observed your response to Kent and your immediate offer of a HUGE collection of resources you probably spent months if not more writing, setting up and testing and commented that it just astounds him just how generous our colleagues can be, including those we haven’t had the privilege of meeting yet.
Thank you

Hi Kent,
I used Python for the past few years- I used Python in my history as a game programmer, so I carried it through into my classes. Kids find it fun and easy to learn.
If you don't know Python (i.e you have to teach yourself), I would recommend that you learn Ruby instead (also on the list). Ruby is simple like Python, but it has great advantages in web dev, unlike Python. If students in the future want to continue their programming - Ruby would be the way to go.
If you choose Python, would recommend you use 3.3, as the features are much better and the language makes more sense than 2.7, for beginners.
I've attached most of my stuff. Please keep in mind that it is for Py3.3. Let me know if you require more.☺

Hi all,
I am considering swapping to Python for 2013 as my language for Soft Dev.
Used VB.NET this year....
Comments..thoughts, resources suggestions welcomed as I prep for next year..
I plan to run ver2.7..and the Python web site looks a great resource for content/learning tools.
Particularly interested in how you approached the Unit3 oc2 and Unit4 oc1 with this language.
As a backup (plan B)..am considering the Win7 SDK for the portable device OC's..
Also considering using it(Python and maybe the Win7SDK) with my 10's too, comments welcome on this strategy too please where possible..and maybe some planning ideas wouldnt go astray either.
Briefly looked at the language and already like what I see.
Very much in planning for 2013 mode just now..all ideas welcomed at this point.
