ACMI Hot House: Tall Poppies Grow Here
For educators:
ACMI Hot House: Tall Poppies Grow Here
Intensive Program for Student Gamemakers NOW OPEN for Entries
Do you know a promising Victorian Student in Year 10 to 12 with a creative
talent and a passion for games? Help them grow into a Tall Poppy inside the
ACMI Hothouse: where creativity and skills are cultivated.
A new four-year initiative of the Victorian Government, the ACMI Hothouse
will provide selected students with unprecedented access to creative
learning support, intensive hands-on production experience and inspirational
contact with key international and Australian moving image makers.
The very first ACMI Hothouse focuses on creative game development. Selected
students will spend a week in the July 2012 school holidays working together
in a fast paced, creative 'game studio' to create a computer game prototype.
They will meet visiting international game makers associated with ACMI's new
Game Masters exhibition, learn about career pathways and develop folio
content.
How to apply: Students and teachers can visit
http://www.acmi.net.au/hothouse.aspx to register and download the
application pack. The application includes an original game idea and a 'to
camera' pitch so start now! Previous game making experience is not
essential.
Does it cost anything? No! The Hothouse is free, though limited to
applicants who are selected. Application is also free.
Applications Close Fri 18 May 2012
This is an initiative of the Victorian government and ACMI (The Australian
Centre for the Moving Image).
