Kent and Kevork - thank you so much.

I have a some good resources for App Inventor but am wary because of it's similarity to GameMaker (block based), and not sure of a good path to move from that to Java. Like GameMaker it seems to be it's own thing, and even the source code it produces is App Inventor specific.

We do Scratch at Yr 7, GameMaker at Year 9 and I want to move them to a solid OOP path for VCE. I've started VB6 from scratch with more Year 12 classes than I care to remember. It's not really good enough to start from bare bones at Unit 3 these days.

I asked Paula about App Inventor's use in SD and briefly mentioned it on the list earlier in the year, but of course it will not be sanctioned. She never came back with anything specific, but I'll be shocked if it's added to the approved language list.

Regards to all, and I enjoy hearing from those of us who are treading our paths away from VB.. :) Hopefully we will have another SD class next year at Norwood. It's just Yr 11 at the moment.
