[Year 12 SofDev] state of play of VET IT and new training package.

Hi Kent

I am aware that this is not the right list for this discussion, but the
issue is that if the students do a course that is not loaded onto VASS the
students will only get block credit recognition and will not be able to sit
the exam and get full recognition and an ATAR score, etc. May not be an
issue for some students but for others wanting an ATAR score it is an issue.

Kind regards

I'm not quite sure what the query on this VET-IT issue is. The way I see it,
the ICA11 package is now available and the units in it should be the ones we
therefore plan for and present the content from. It is noticeable that some
units now have a 'C' designation on them and/or additional or more detailed
elements & performance criteria. Correspondingly the critical aspects and kk
/ks in some cases have also been upgraded by the new training package.

Also worth noting is that training.com.au now also contains word format
documents which makes the task of creating some assessment tools a real joy!
(modifying the pdf's was a pain!)

My RTO gave all the current package info to me for this year plus, I make it
my duty to ensure I regularly check the site for any content updates.

On the down side, VET-IT Cert III at this point will not be offered here
after 2012 due to the LARGE range of other subject offerings more attractive
to the demographic of this region. BUT, I will try to change that thinking
next year...hmmmm..just working on that plan just now...

Kent.

Hi all

Having just glanced though the new training for VET IT (ICA11 - Certificate
II and III Info, Digital Media and Technology) am wondering if anyone on
this list knows of the state of play for the new training package. When it
is going to be introduced by the VCAA and what is the likely profile of the
new course?
